Morals are a code of conduct (principles of right and wrong) that people uphold based on a culmination of knowledge they have picked up and the experiences they have had over a lifetime. These experiences have effectively shaped their beliefs and expectations about how things are and how they ought to be.
Based on these beliefs and expectations people develop a code of conduct that influences their perspectives and thereby guides their choices and decisions.
