Four Pillars of Responsibility

The Pillars of Responsibility IQ Matrix explores four pillars of responsibility that we must all strive to address to live an accomplished life.

To live an accomplished life requires taking full responsibility for ourselves, for our life, and for our circumstances. When we take responsibility we take matters into our own hands. There are no more excuses, there’s no blaming, and no complaints about how things have turned out. We, ourselves, are responsible for everything, and, therefore, we alone shape our destiny with our own mind and hands.

The four pillars of responsibility include being responsible for our aim and goals in life; for what we focus on and give our attention to; for our attitude, and for our actions. Each one of these areas is under our personal influence and control, so there really are no excuses for not taking the initiative to take responsibility.

When we take full responsibility for these four areas of our lives that is when the magic happens. That’s when life takes on new meaning and this subsequently helps us work with a higher level of intentional purpose toward the accomplishment of our most important and meaningful goals.Four Pillars of Responsibility

Here is a quick breakdown of each branch of the Pillars of Responsibility mind map.

  • Pillar 1 – AIM: The first pillar addresses the idea of taking responsibility for our goals, ambitions, and vision. It presents a series of self-reflection questions that you can use to take responsibility for these areas of your life.
  • Pillar 2 – ATTENTION: The second pillar addresses the idea of taking responsibility for our attention and the quality of our focus. Where our attention flows, that’s often where our energy goes. Here you are presented with several self-reflection questions that will help you to take responsibility for this area of your life.
  • Pillar 3 – ATTITUDE: The third pillar addresses the idea of taking responsibility for our attitude and how we respond to problems, adversity, as well as difficult people and emotions. Attitude is all about perspective. And taking responsibility for our perspective is the key to taking charge of our attitude.
  • Pillar 4 – ACTION: The fourth pillar addresses the idea of taking responsibility for our actions. Actions must, of course, align with our aim, attention, and attitude. The key here is to address unfocused behaviors and habits that tend to sabotage our progress.

When we take full responsibility for these four areas of our lives that is when the magic happens. That’s when life takes on new meaning and this subsequently helps us work with a higher level of intentional purpose toward the accomplishment of our most important and meaningful goals.

Referencing the map regularly and committing it to memory will help you to embed these principles into your subconscious mind. Only in this way will you develop optimal habits of mind and patterns of behavior that will help you to become more responsible for your life, for yourself, and your circumstances.
